Perhaps best known for her regal features and energetic personality, Ms. Warsame has walked international runways for many of the top rung fashion designers. She’s also served as a judge on the reality-competition series, Canada’s Next Top Model.

Agency owners of Toronto’s now defunct SHOK Models, Cindy LaChapelle and Camille Bailey, originally discovered Yasmin Warsame, the Somalian-born beauty, in 1997. LaChapelle and Bailey first scouted Ms. Warsame on the city’s TTC Subway train. Much to their dismay, she did not contact them right away as promised. Two weeks later, however, their luck would change. The two ran into her again while she was walking along Toronto’s Queen Street East and the rest is history. By 2004, Ms. Warsame was lauded as “The Most Alluring Canadian” in a poll by Fashion Magazine.

Ms. Warsame received her big break courtesy of a Vogue Italia editorial photographed by the great Steven Meisel. Countless features in the international editions of Vogue quickly followed and Peter Lindberg captured her in the South of France for L’Oreal Paris.

Throughout her career, Ms. Warsame has brought a regal presence to the runway, working with top rung fashion designers and brands. Long, lean, and graceful, the Somali-Canadian superstar has the ability to make even the most intricate couture pieces seem effortless.

Perhaps best known for her regal features and energetic personality, Ms. Warsame has walked international runways for many of the top rung fashion designers: Alexander McQueen, Christian Dior, Fendi, Giorgio Armani, Givenchy, Gucci, Jean Paul Gaultier, Lanvin, Tom Ford, and Oscar de la Renta, Saint Laurent, Elie Saab and appeared in advertising campaigns for Valentino Haute Couture, Dolce & Gabbana, Escada, Hermès, Shiseido, Chanel, Gap, and H&M. She’s also served as a judge on the reality-competition series, Canada’s Next Top Model.

Ms. Warsame is back in the spotlight this month shot by the masterful Steven Meisel for Vogue Italia’s Senza Tempo editorial, “proving her continued relevance on and off the catwalk.”  says Janelle Okwodu at Style.com. The following are Yasmin Warsame’s Greatest Runway Moments according to the website. Ms. Warsame brings her innate elegance and head-turning beauty to host FashCam’s coverage of TOM*FW (Toronto Men’s Fashion Week) SS16. FashCam welcomes Sapporo and Tiger of Sweden as partners in the video series coverage. Both are leading brands that represent premium men’s style and lifestyle respectively. Tiger of Sweden will also be dressing Ms. Warsame from their womenswear collection throughout the series.

We know both Sapporo and Tiger of Sweden join us in our commitment to bring increased recognition and international visibility to the world-class fashion design talent that thrive right here in Canada,” offers FashCam  Founder/CEO, Len D. Henry.

“Sapporo is pleased to support FashCam’s coverage of TOM*FW, Toronto Men’s Fashion Week. We see TOM*FW’s international promotion of Canada’s premium men’s lifestyle as being in perfect alignment our product and customer,” says Scott Pederson, Director of Marketing, Sapporo.

“It is Tiger of Sweden’s 10th year in Canada and it is amazing how Canadian, especially Toronto’s, menswear scene has evolved in the recent years. TOM*FW is a great platform for Canadian menswear designers to showcase their talent to the industry and media, and it is an absolute pleasure to partner with FashCam and one of Canada’s most iconic models, Yasmin Warsame, to be in the centre of the TOM*FW SS16 Collections,” adds Laurence Slavin, SlavinRaphael Distribution Inc.

Off-duty, Ms. Warsame’s assignment these days is as ambassador for The African Future, a charity established to improve the quality of life for the future of Africa. TAF’s mission begins in Somalia. As a small grass roots oriented organization TAF has developed several programs through explorations into the needs expressed directly by the potential recipients.

“We have to get the word out as much as we can that Africa needs our help,” she says. “I’ve got a passion for Africa not only because that’s where I am from, but because it’s a place that’s suffering, and my heart goes out to any place where there’s misery,” says Ms. Warsame

Closer to home in Toronto, Ms. Warsame also lends her compassion and celebrity to help the Somali Youth Coalition keep young people in school and off the streets.
