Every year, life in a few of Scotland’s prisons gets particularly tense as its annual prison hairdressing competition gets underway. For most of the entrants, winning first place is the ultimate goal, but for Francis, the current champion, who’s soon to be released, the competition is a glimpse at a life of freedom and responsibility. For some of his fellow entrants, the competition might be the only glimpse they get.
