Toronto, Canada – November 9, 2017 – The world’s original fashion incubator, Toronto Fashion Incubator (TFI), has announced a new global initiative in tandem with London Fashion Week and in collaboration with the High Commission of Canada to the United Kingdom. Building on the success of its seasonal TFI Press & Buyers Brunch and Tradeshow, the non-profit will be taking its upcoming AW18 event to the United Kingdom. To be held at Canada House on February 15, 2018 (10:00am-3:00pm BST), the tradeshow will provide international exposure for Canada’s emerging apparel and accessory designers on the global stage.

“Thanks to the High Commission of Canada to the United Kingdom, we are beyond thrilled to receive this exceptional opportunity to showcase Canadian fashion talent abroad,” says TFI Executive Director, Susan Langdon. “We are extremely grateful to receive support that will enable one of TFI’s signature events to debut during London Fashion Week.”

TFI’s Press & Buyers Brunch and Tradeshow has become one of the organisation’s most renowned events, having been held biannually since 1995. Its first international edition will gather retailers and media from across the United Kingdom, Europe and United States to discover a curated showcase of exciting Canadian apparel and accessory brands. The event will replace the TFI New Labels® Competition, which historically focused on local engagement and is currently on hiatus. The expansion of the TFI Press & Buyers Brunch and Tradeshow marks an exciting new path for the future of Canadian design and offers home grown talent an opportunity to communicate their brands to an international audience.

“With a renewed focus on the export of Creative Industries under the Government of Canada’s Creative Export Strategy, the High Commission of Canada is pleased to partner with the Toronto Fashion Incubator to showcase up and coming Canadian design talent during London Fashion Week” says Greg Houlahan Canada’s Senior Trade Commissioner and Minister Commercial to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

London Fashion Week will run from February 16 to 20, 2018. For Canadian apparel and accessory designers interested in participating in TFI’s AW18 Press and Buyers Tradeshow, applications are open until January 3, 2018. For more information please contact [email protected]
