MONTH OF August

You got this, Pisces! Back-to-school season starts early for you this year as August kicks off with three solid weeks that encourage you to focus your attention and effort on your everyday work routines, health and self-care. Prioritize anything that just needs to get done, even if it’s (more than) a little monotonous. If it’s too much to tackle everything at once, set ambitious yet attainable goals, and research the nuts and bolts of a routine you could actually stick with for the long haul. Once you start to see positive results, it will only get easier over the next six months. And you might just have some healing insights while you’re going through those motions since, by mid-August, all five of the slow-moving outer planets (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune AND Pluto) will be in powered-down retrograde. This is actually a favorable time to step back and look at things through the wise lens of distance and objectivity. While radical actions aren’t favored now, the last week of August projects a question mark onto your most high-profile partnerships. Is a significant shift required? Has a long-simmering clash or imbalance been sapping your strength? Month’s end brings a healing opportunity to just let go, forgive and surrender.

With the sun in energetic Leo and your sixth house of health, organization and analytical thinking until Sunday, August 22, you’re juggling a bunch of tasks on various to-do lists, and maybe trackers, too! You’ll be in cleanup mode with everything from your eating to your office space. Is your home and workspace giving you the constant flow of energy you’re going to need to tackle all these projects? Now’s the right time for an energizing Feng Shui checkup. Stay aware of your screen time, sleep and exercise. Are you striking a proper balance between work and wellness?

The first week of August will have a couple choppy moments, but they offer an opportunity to prioritize and really get authentic with yourself and others. On Monday, August 2, the Sun makes its annual opposition to structured Saturn. One part of you wants to be responsible and organized—but you could feel so daunted by the task at hand that you swing to the other extreme and rebel with excess. You might also feel fenced in by too many guidelines, yet totally unmoored when you don’t have enough certainty. Head spinning yet?

Our advice: Know the rules so you can break them effectively. While this may seem a tad unorthodox, the annual Sun-Saturn face-off could inspire you to be even less compliant than usual. Just skim the instruction manual before you go completely rogue. Even if you’re feeling like a renegade, you don’t want to alienate key supporters or, worse, end up in the middle of a scandal. Once you’ve gotten your bearings, unleash your creativity and keep it real. You’ll thwart the critics AND win yourself a captivated audience.

On Friday, August 6, the Sun will form an incendiary square to disruptive Uranus in your communication house. Unexpected news could derail the best-laid weekend plans. You’re also at risk for getting into one of those endless argument loops, where the harder you try to debate your way out of it, the deeper into a hole you dig yourself. That fight could even take place between your ears. If you find yourself overthinking, do something totally novel. Put the topic on ice for a few hours (as best you can) and get out in nature for physical activity and a mindset refresh!

The get-‘er-done vibe is amplified by the year’s only Leo new moon on Sunday, August 8, beaming into your sixth house of wellness and order and prompting you to purify and plan ahead. Anything from your desk to your diet is fair game. Set ambitious fitness and organizational goals now—and be ready to reap the rewards of your efforts when the Leo full moon arrives next February 16.

Mix it up, Pisces. On August 19, changemaker Uranus will turn retrograde until January 18, backtracking through Taurus and your third house of community and communication.

If you’ve been hunting for a new ‘hood or fascinating new friends in your own area for the past couple years, signs pointclass=”body-el-link standard-body-el-link” to the celestial shock jock. Disruptor Uranus is in Taurus for a long seven-year visit that began on March 6, 2019, and will end in April 2026. A friendship that’s been unstable or even damaged by a feud could benefit from an air-clearing conversation—or you may decide to really keep your distance. Your relationship with a sibling or colleague could also go through a Uranian overhaul. With the planet of liberation and authenticity tearing through this zone, you won’t hold back! But if a softer delivery is called for, the retrograde could help you with that.

The third house rules multimedia, teaching and writing. Got a trailblazing message to share with the world or an educational product that will blow minds? Maybe you’ve dreamed up a killer life-hacking app or platform. With tech-savvy Uranus here, there’s hardly a better person to spearhead this idea—it’s certainly worth exploring! The retrograde makes the rest of this year best suited for research and development (with a launch once Uranus powers forward in January). If you already have a business, work on your marketing and social media profiles. Keep things out of the realm of “controversy” for the time being as Uranus retrograde could attract trolls and other complications you don’t need now.

When Virgo season starts on August 22, your seventh house of relationships and mutuality is activated, and key partnerships take center stage for a month. Give your energy to those who are capable of an equal give-and-take. Work out any kinks that are disrupting your most important bonds—and move the superficial folks to the sidelines. You may be a bit more tired as the Sun is at its farthest point in the sky from your Sun. Remember, Pisces: You don’t have to do it all yourself. Ask for a helping hand, and you’ll be surprised how many are proffered!

That same day signals the second of 2021’s Aquarius full moons (the first was on July 23), casting its restless moonbeams on your twelfth house of healing, closure and release. Is it time to let go of something that’s been holding you back…or that you’ve been holding onto? Have you been in denial about someone’s true motives or caught in a codependent trap? This full moon could bring a moment of healing and spiritual clarity—even a big epiphany about where you’re headed next. Read the writing on the wall and get the support you need. Since control is an illusion anyway, rather than trying to corral the chaos, just let the chips fall. Focus on conclusions, not illusions—and surrender any inner heaviness.

On the upside, this could be a richly creative or romantic full moon. Your imagination is at its peak, and artistic Pisces could produce some of your finest work. In love, a heightened fantasy could become reality, so if you’re looking for dates to escape off the grid with a sexy companion, this is it! Look back to February 11 Aquarius new moon and July 23 full moon for clues to what could manifest.

With lusty Mars and spontaneous Uranus forming a fast-moving trine in your partnership zones, things could go from friendly to fiery in no time flat! Whether that’s a hot romantic connection or a meant-to-be business one, this full moon could open a divine new door the second another one closes.

Regardless of your current relationship status, your love life will be treated to a major uptick this month as both love planets prance through your most committed chart sectors. Lusty Mars in Virgo all month (until September 14) stokes your libido, turning your attention to affairs of the heart—sometimes at admittedly inopportune moments! This is fine if you have a partner and set your own work hours, but in the absence of one or both of those factors, you could experience some frustration. Things could turn serious, and couples may organically start talking about making things more official. Single? Grab another unattached friend and mingle more intentionally. Get clear about what you want to call in, and don’t let any “rogue” types through your personal velvet ropes.

With Venus riding shotgun alongside Mars until August 16, you may have a strong urge to merge or to add more romance to your union. But note to Pisces: People aren’t mind readers (even if you are!), so be more direct in how you express your desires. On the flip side, if you’re in a partnership and feel pressured to go all in—but aren’t sure—don’t keep a good person hanging in limbo. Is there a deeper reason for your ambivalence? Talk to a therapist, or do whatever it takes to get to the root of it!

Getting emotionally centered is really important because on August 16, Venus will relocate to Libra and your house of permabonding. Between then and September 10, you’ll have a rare (three weeks a year) opportunity to create a loving, committed union. But if you’re on the fence, you can’t build it on a solid foundation. If you’re happily playing the field (or already in a rock-solid relationship), these next several weeks will be all about sensual, smoldering sexytime.

Partnerships for the win! With go-getter Mars in Virgo and your committed seventh house, dynamic duos are ablaze until September 14. Welcome complementary souls into your orbit and see how much bigger you can make things when you combine your superpowers, especially once Virgo season begins for a month on August 22. Prior to then, you’re also in worker bee mode, with the Leo Sun in your administrative sixth house (until August 22) helping you tick off your to-do list and whip your work life into fighting shape. If you’ve been searching for a dream assistant, service provider or an efficient new system, that savvy solution could arrive near the August 8 Leo new moon. As la luna beams into your problem-solving sixth house, you’re ready to tackle a barrier that’s been holding you back, one sensible step at a time. (P.S. Don’t be afraid to outsource to a skilled specialist.) Is it time to close one chapter to make way for a new one? The August 22 Aquarius full moon in your transitional twelfth house could bring nothing short of a miracle—if you’re willing to surrender what you’ve been holding onto past its prime.
