It makes sense that the snowsuit is becoming ubiquitous even in cities with no easy access to mountains. As a result of the pandemic, people are spending more time outside, whether they’re actually skiing, winter hiking through nature, or going on long walks in more urban areas. Even having a meal at a restaurant right now in a city like New York, where indoor dining is banned and temperatures are chilly, requires dressing as if for a day on the slopes rather than a 90-minute social event. And, as anyone who has worn a snowsuit can confirm (me, included), it’s a practical way of staying warm during the winter.
